Default Help me find a good location with a reasonable rent!

Hi everybody my husband and I just moved to VA from TX about 6 days ago and he had been here for a day for his job interview so we rushed into getting an apt here in Arlington. But apparently we don't like it so we now have about 20 days to get our stuff together and find a better place.
About us my husband got a job in DC so hes been taking the subway to work so being close to the metro is a must!
Right now we are paying about 2,300 for rent so we would like to stay with in that budget. We also have 2 dogs ones pretty big and hairy looks like a Shepard so it's hard finding a place that will take us the other is a tiny chihuahua. So we were thinking we would rather find a small house with a yard to rent. I'm clueless regarding on what locations are safe where I should look into. We would also like to be able to walk to places or catch the bus.Any feedback will be appreciated thanks a bunch!!!
