If your kid is thinking about JROTC he's likely already thinking of going to the military in the future. BTW, is that a BAD thing?

My daughter LOVES JROTC and is also in CAP. She also proudly wears her I "heart" my church t-shirt, her baptism shirt, and her red Valentines "LOVE week" shirt from church to school.
I think it is a good thing

Oh. That sounds nice, what branch is she in? (I'm in high school by the way). I'm in the Air Force JROTC.

I know this thread is old but I am going to comment anyway. I served 2 years in Air Force ROTC during High School in the early 2000's. I was very undisciplined and little respect for authority. I knew nothing about military ranks, policies, drill, uniforms, ect. I had played sports but never was a "team player". AFJROTC taught me discipline, respect for authority, teamwork, general respect, gave me a sense of order/structure. I am now a Police Officer in a para-military structure. Many things I learned 10+ years ago in AFJROTC are still with me today. It totally changed me for the better and I am grateful for our Chief Master Sergeant being so hard on us.

About 70% of our class did not join the military. Our instructors told us about military life but never pushed us to join. Recruiters from all branches came in and talked to us but there was never any pressure. The program is not to recruit students to the military but prepares them for military life. I was going to go to the USAF but God had another plan for me. IIRC, If you enlist in the military you can go in at a higher rank if you have had ROTC.
