Reckless Driving in Carroll County...What should I do? (employment, school) - City-Data Forum

Hey guys. I just received a reckless driving citation in Carroll County, VA while driving up I-77. I was cited for a 85 in a 65 zone. It is nearly impossible for me to appear in court as I live about 5.5 hours away and I am in graduate school. I can't let this criminal offense get on my record as it could affect my employment ability. What should I do cuz I'm very worried about this. Do you think it would be possible for them to drop the points and reckless driving charge and I could just pay the ticket? I really don't want the points or that charge on my record but I'm probably unable to show up in court (they gave me a number though to call). Thanks again for your help.

Just to add, the citation has the General District Court (traffic) box ticked instead of the criminal portion. Don't know if that makes a difference.

I would also like to add he wasn't using a gun but was pacing me for a few miles (his story changed a few times for how many miles he was following me). On top of that, he stopped after a car cut in front of me and I slowed down a bit (I think around 65-70). Hope this info helps.
