Default Franklin County Internet Service

As I posted in another thread, we are considring moving to the Roanoke/Franklin County area. Since my wife is not yet retired and works at home, we will be needing high speed internet acess.
I have heard of BX2. Are any of you using it? It seems like a small company, and I would be afraid if it was the only option where I decided to live and they went out of business, I would be out of luck.

Any other options out there?

Thanks again,
Lou

I've used b2x for 18+ months with virtually no down time. They're based in Salem. They're pretty much here to stay. Franklin County recently commissioned them to install 8 more towers to increase coverage. Cable internet is another option also if you're close to Rocky Mount (Suddenlink?). When you're touring around, keep an eye out for distant hills that have towers on them. For b2x to work you'll need line of sight to one of their towers. They resemble cell towers, with 4 large white pole antennas.

I get about 1.5Mbps in both directions so it's pretty fast. And when WiMAX is rolled out, a simple equipment upgrade will jump throughput up to 10Mbps or faster.

Sean

Yes, Suddenlink. Err...actually, Suddenlink just got taken over by Jet Broadband. You can still contact Suddenlink, however, or walk into the office in Glade Hill.
