I am an experienced teacher. I have applied for a middle school teaching position in several school districts. And today I got a call from HR department for screening interview. I do not have interview experience with HR staffs. What types of question do they ask? Is it true that I have to pass this interview to be interviwed by a school principal? How long is this type of interview?

Your tips and suggestions will be highly appreciated.

I am not a teacher so cannot comment on the role of the HR Staff here. However, in many organizations, the HR staff does a preliminary screening of candidates and will come up with a list of the best candidates that will be given to a hiring official (i.e., a principal) who then does a 2d interview. I have seen this done both routinely, and when there are hundreds of candidates to screen for a few positions.

BTW, which school district(s) are you looking at? Maybe someone in the Forum has familiarity with that area. Good luck!

HR is most likely screening. Best advise is to bone up on the school district and it's middle schools. Read their websites closely. Know what their demographics are, what they emphasize, their mission, their test scores so you can tell them how you will fit in and what younhave to offer to them. Good luck!
