Default wanting move to virginia but debating the coast or the west side of the state

Hello,
I am a radiologist assistant, I am looking for an area with homes below 200,000 dollars, I have no children yet and would like a public school nearby.
But my biggest dillema is picking between the mountains or the coast
Here is some criteria that may help!
Needs to be small city like 30000 people or less
Veryy scenic
Some place for road biking
Inland lakes or something that water sports can be done on!

Thank you so much for the help

Forget the Virginia coast. It is too built up and expensive (VA Beach/Newport News) to meet your criteria or too isolated, small and rural - (Virginia Eastern Shore). However, http://www.city-data.com/city/Radford-Virginia.html (in the Blue Ridge near the WV border) meets all your listed criteria perfectly.

radiologist assistant - CARILION NEW RIVER VALLEY MEDICAL CENTER is a major employer there. Montgomery Regional Hospital is 11 miles away. Pulaski Community Hospital is 12 miles in the other direction.

I am looking for an area with homes below 200,000 dollars - no problem, your budget can afford a single family detached home there.

I have no children yet and would like a public school nearby. There are five public elementary schools in the Radford area plus an international school.

Needs to be small city like 30000 people or less - Radford population is under 20,000

Very scenic - yep

Some place for road biking , inland lakes or something that water sports can be done on - Claytor Lake Park on the town outskirts is popular for water sports and has 12 biking trails. There is also an extensive bike trail network along the New River.

It's a university town so there's a bit more cultural opportunities than usual there as well.

OP specified population under 30,000. Charlottesville has a pop around 47,000.

Charlottesville sounds very nice and not too big, although any larger I wouldn't care for it much
