Are there in Philippine communities around Chincoteague? We just moved to Chincoteague and we are looking for anyone that came from the Philippines. It's always nice to find friends that have a culture in common.

Why not just use this and other online demographic sources to find out Filipino population numbers and locations?

(Of course, I realize that you could be asking to make direct contact.. )

Try at Catholic churches - or Nursing staffs at hospitals, or areas near Naval bases.

The closer that you get to a military base (especially the Army bases), the more likely you will find Filipinos. Many Filipinos joined the US armed forces after WW II and relocated to Virginia.

Chincoteague is a remote location and seems to be populated by families that have been there for generations. At least, that was my impression.

You'd be more accurate if you were to say Navy bases. Most Filipino's joined and join the Navy, with the majority of Asians joining the Army being Korean. There is a small Navy base in Wallops, but hardly any Filipino's. I've seen a handful in the two years i spent there. Head towards Virginia Beach/Norfolk Area if you want to be around Filipinos.

The Phillipino community in Virginia Beach is extremely large and the Cultural Center mentioned above would be a great resource to identify resources in the area you are living...
