Greetings- I'm moving to Rocky Mount, VA for work soon. After a few trips to town to find suitable housing, I'm at a loss. Can anyone recommend fairly nice townhomes or apartment complexes to look into? We plan to buy eventually, but want to get to know the area first- we are okay with being anywhere (10 mile radius) of Rocky Mount or Ferrum.

theres some nice new ones in south Roanoke county along 220, but thats about 20 miles to Rocky Mount.

All the outlying areas around Rocky Mount are rural, limiting your options. May have to settle for something in Rocky Mount if nothing has interested you there. Have you tried looking into renting a home? Maybe single family will have something more to your needs?

Default Thanks

Thanks for the reply- we have looked into a few home rentals. There are very few open for rent right now unfortunately, and those that we have seen weren't a good fit for our needs (a child makes you look at safety issues much closer). Plus, we want to keep expenses low so we can purchase a house eventually. Sounds like there aren't really any nicer apartment complexes or townhomes in the Rocky Mount area that we are missing in our search...

Try around Smith Mtn Lake? I think that's all pricey single family homes, but maybe someone built a complex or is willing to lease a home they cant sell(a lot of those there).

Its a rough spot because the outlying areas like Boones Mill, Ferrum, Glade Hill etc are zero to one stoplight towns, which is why we live near Roanoke.
