I'm moving to New Market, Virginia, in a few months and I'm trying to get the "lay of the land" there. I'd appreciate any and all suggestions about nice restaurants in the area.

Thanks!
Brian

Harrisonburg's not that far and I always enjoyed Dave's Taverna downtown there.

You'll definitely have to check out the Johnny Appleseed restaurant. We've stopped there before when traveling on I-81 and we enjoyed it. Its the only restaurant that I know of in New Market besides fast food, but I'm sure there is more in town and in surrounding areas.

Thanks, Cava & Scott,

I'll check out Dave's Taverna. I think I've been to Johnny Appleseed some time ago and did enjoy it, so that's good reminder for me.

My real-estate agent has also recommended Dan's Steak House near the top of the mountain on route 211 just east of New Market -- and also the locally run fried chicken place in "downtown" New Market itself. She also mentioned Jalisco's -- which I believe is a sister restaurant of a Harrisonburg place (neither of which I've been to yet, however.)

In Harrisonburg.

Harrisonburg Union Station Restaurant & Bar

An excellent restaurant in an historic building.

We liked Edelweiss, but IIRC its near Staunton which might be a little longer than 20 minutes (but not much).

It's a bit more than 20 mins, but The Inn at Little Washington is a nice 'special occasion' place.
