Hi everyone,

I am looking for an affordable house, around 150K near Williamsburg,VA. I know with this budget I won't be able to live in Williamsburg, but I am looking for close by communities that would have nice houses in this price range. I am from up north and heard that houses are more affordable down south, but I was shocked with how expensive they have been so far with my research. I am looking for a 3 bedroom 2 bath in a nice neighborhood that is safe, but still as close as possible to Williamsburg.

Thank you in advance for your help!!

Newport News likely has some homes in that price range.

Is this a good safe area I haven't heard good things about it.

First, you may want to post your inquiry in the Hampton Roads sub-forum (if you have not already done so).

I live in Newport News. There are many safe neighborhoods in Newport News. My impression is that the housing is more affordable in NN. It is a very easy drive from NN to Williamsburg or vice versa.

Depends, but in your price range you may not have many options. The problem is you have a lot of people around there who make decent money or have retired with some. Plus there are the college, university, and navy bases all within commute distance that produce demand for housing.
