I read some views that is, I am primarily interested in the Richmond area and how it feels in the summer in comparison to Fort Lauderdale/Miami, someone told me it's muggier than what I am use to, I was shocked to hear that.

I grew up in Fla but moved to VA in 73. My family is still in Fla so I'm there often. I can say VA is just as humid as FLA but only for the summers. And even during the hot humid months in VA we'll see an occasional nice day with lower humidity. That doesn't happen in Fla. One thing about Va. Although they sometimes seem a little too short the Spring and Falls here can be absolutely stunning. In Fla it seems to stay Summer way too long with a way too short of a Winter. I love the change of seasons and for this reason I could never move back to Fla.

I moved here from Fl in 99. The humidity kills me, but well worth having four seasons. Fl has two, sunshine and rain. I'm with Bigfoot, I'll never move back.

Moved up to Winchester from Orlando, FL...

I'd say that there are brutal heat waves in Virginia where the temperature gets hotter than in Florida, but maybe not quite as humid and less "intense" sunlight.... (Only way I can think to describe it really)... Florida is oppressive because it is 4-6 months of straight 90+ degree weather with high humidity whereas in Virginia its called a "heat wave" for a reason. You know in a few days, or a week, (usually) that temperatures will drop back down to a tolerable level..

I'd say it's about the same....especially East of the mountains.....Washington DC was but a SWAMP when the area was first populated....and it's VERY humid most of the summer.

Contrary to popular belief this is not true. It would have been called a tidal basin today. Very little true swamp existed. I could dig up some proof for you but it's easy to find on Google.
