Exclamation Staunton Area...to move or not to move

My husband and I are looking to get out of Hampton Roads. We live in Newport News and hate it. Right now this area is just getting out of control and we want to move as soon as we can just so our daughter doesnt have to be raised here. We live in a good negihborhood but are zoned for some of the worst schools in the city. We want out of HR all together, we're tired of the traffic, etc. My mother and father in law want to move to the mountains after next year when my father in law retires. They are trying to talk us into moving and we are planning to either move to the mountains or to my homestate of Wisconsin after we graduate from school (3 years). I'll have my bachelors in IT and my husband will have his masters by the time we move. However, I'm just not quite sold on the mountains. I love it out there, its beautiful, but what is the job market like? What about housing costs? People, schools, etc? I want to know it all.

Right now we're leaning towards Wisconsin to get closer to my family. My hubby has already experienced the winter and is still ok on moving there. Or we are looking at the mountains of VA. We always go camping in Verona and love it and we're in love with the area. Just dont know that is where I can settle for the next 25+ years...Any info would be greatly appreciated!

jcorfry is on a distinguished road
im building a house outside staunton. the whole area seems like a park. its pretty and i can get to all those busy places in a couple of hours if i have to. ican see the blue ridge mountains from the front of my house and i have to chase the deer out of the back yard at night. not as many mosquitoes as wisconsin.
