My husband and I are considering relocating to Montgomery County, as he will work in Roanoke and I will be searching for employment in either Christiansburg or Blacksburg. Can anyone tell me about the Montgomery County public elementary schools there? I have tried to research the state ratings for the SOL assessments and can't seem to get anywhere. I find everything else but not what I need. Are the schools there good, or do residents take their children to schools in surrounding areas? Any info about the schools, and living in Montgomery County would be greatly appreciated. Thank you so much!

I grew up in Carroll County and moved to Roanoke after college. The Montgomery County schools have a solid reputation. I'm not sure about the stats or anything like that, but with the area being so close to Va Tech, there is a strong emphasis on the public schools system in the region. I can't recall exactly, but I believe the main high schools are Christiansburg, Blacksburg, Radford, Eastmont, Shawsville.
