Williamsburg - New Towne
Ok, I'm starting this thread again. The last one was locked up b/c people strayed off topic.
Please keep this about New Town. I'm considering purchasing here and I would like to get input, feedback and experiences people are having regarding, New Town.
Please, if you want to talk about another area or get into a “my neighborhood is better than yours” pissing match, start a new thread. Don't ruin this one.
Thanks.

With that out if the way....
Here are my original concrens regarding this area....
I wanted to ask you folks if you think this place can truly succeed in Williamsburg. Williamsburg already has a certain cache' to it which drives up home values - but this place is expensive on top of that (By Hampton Roads standards).
1) Is New Town truly viable in a town w/ not much buisness/industry other than tourism?
2) With the housing market experiencing a slowdown, would it be prudent to view this as a good time to look into upgrades or incentives to purchase in New Town?
3) What is the surrounding area like (crime, schools, overall reputation, etc) Not Williamsburg the city - but the immediate surrounding area bordering the New Town development.

I been told by several realtors
That no matter where you buy in "Williamsburg" it will be a great investment...that is what I was told by many professionals and I trust they were all honest with me. Anyhow that is what I can rely to you...The area around New Towne is a mix really, some housing is not as nice as others, lilke most of Williamsburg, it is a mix. I really would not worry bout it, if I were you!

jdadz,
New Town is very viable and exciting. I have a friend who lives there and loves it. I can tell you that is developing very quickly... much more quickly than I thought it would.
The commercial development is very high end. The restaurants are great. The movie theatre is really nice. If you don't need gardening and a lawn, then I think you should go for it!
Also, the prices have stablized. Originally, I thought it was way overpriced, but it's a bit better now.
I think you need to try to negotiate the price. Let me know if you need assistance on this.
