Anyone have a recomendation or two on hotels near the Va Tech Campus? They don't need to be 4 star hotels but I would like something nice for the guests I will be putting there. This is for a Sept. visit.

Thanks

Have you checked the reviews on tripadvisor.com? That's the site I go to when looking for a hotel.

The Holiday Inn-University is nice, across the street from the University

The Comfort Inn on Main Street in Blacksburg but it is not within walking distance to VT.

Christiansburg also has some nice places, an easy drive.

A new Marriott Courtyard was recently built, close to the Comfort Inn.

Hi, I found this thread searching for a house to rent for the week of May 19th. My brother, an alumnus of VT, suggested Slater lake.

I can't recall the name but I just found out VT has a hotel that looks real nice right next to the vet school which is where we'll be. Supposedly operated by the school. Looked real nice on the web site.

Thanks for the response. We finally have a reservation at the Ho J, but are still hoping to find a house for a family gathering for a few days. I may not have the correct spelling of Slater? Lk. Other sites would be fine.

Maybe he's thinking Claytor Lake which is like 40 mins. from Blacksburg. There are houses for rent on the lake.

If you search on google under "cabins for rent near Blacksburg/Va Tech quite a few come up - the first being Moose something (can't remember but it looks real nice).

If you are going in September, make sure it is not a football weekend. Otherwise you'll be out of luck; most of the hotels started taking reservations a month ago.

We have stayed at The Courtyard Marriott and Main Street Inn in Blacksburg, and the Hampton Inn near the mall. The Main Street Inn definitely offers convenience to campus, but of the three, the Courtyard is my favorite.
