Question From Northen NV to Winchester,Va

My family and I will be moving to Winchester at the end of the month. We have looked from Jacksonville, fl up to WV and found that Winchester may be what we are looking for..well for now. I will be in Richmond for a few months for the Army but my husband and children will be in Winchester..can anyone give us ANY information on this area? The winters, crime rate, employment, housing..we are working with Re/Max and are planning on a renting for right now..its a cute Victorian home.. We are very excited!! Oh yeah and I am looking for pictures of Winchester online and am not having much luck any ideas there? How are people in that area compared to Northern NV? Thanks again for any and all help!!

Winchester is a very nice area. Good schools, low crime. It is a completely different world when compared to the rest of Northern VA. I would think that you will find some true southern hospitality there. The winters aren't much worse than the rest of Virginia. You will get some snow there, but nothing like they get in the more northen states, like PA and NY. In terms of housing, it is actually one of the only areas in VA still doing very well. Good luck and welcome to VA!!!

Default Fantastic Area

The area is fantastic with lots of great people, low crime and fantastic schools. Check homesdatabase.com and look at zip codes 22655, 22601, 22602. My favorite subdivision is Canter Estates in 22655. You will find outstanding homes in the mid $300 to $400. In fact, if you'll be moving soon, send me an email. I'll be relocating to MN soon and I know of a fantastic house that will be for sale.

The City schools I think are much better than the county schools. I dealt with Coldwell Banker and they were superb. County living was better than the city, but it depends on what you are looking for. One thing for certain, the market has shifted and is a buyer's game now. Don't be afraid to make requests, demands, etc. You have control.
