Alberta, VA....worth living there?
I am beginning to think of relocating, I live in Hopewell now. I love the peacefulnees of the country, however my field is stay at home childcare provider. I am wondering whether there would be much need for that in the Aberta area. I would appreciate some feedback. Thanks
We were out looking this weekend and fell in love with a very tiny town, Alberta, Virginia. Very rural, country setting. Might be worth checking out.
I Feel Just Really Ready For A Change, I Want Something Small, Rural, Quiet. Being A Widow, I Am A Little Nervous About Stepping Away From The Familiar. However I Still Have The Urge To Go For It. I Have In Mind Somewhere In The Lawrenceville, Alberta Area. Please Help Me Out Here, If You Know Anything About These Areas Or Somewhere Similiar . Home Child Care Is My Field. Thanks In Advance. Gram~

Alberta, VA
I am from Alberta, Virginia and was there only yesterday visiting family.
The area is very very rural. It is very popular for the retired, as it offers very low crime, not a lot of children, and an affordable place to live. My grandmother has lived there all of her life and would never leave. There are several churches, a conveinant store, a hairdressers, post office, and laundry area. It's very quiet. There are sidewalks so that you can take walks to these places. Lawrenceville, 8 miles away, is where all the residents go shopping and to doctor's appointments.
I would definitely say that it sounds like what you are looking for, but it is hard to make friends at any age. People stay to themselves. Don't expect a neighbor to bring a meal over or anything.
I am a city person, and much younger than you, so it is not the place for me, but it meets everything you are looking for. It's very safe, people around your age everywhere, and you don't have to worry about leaving a door unlocked.
Hope this helps.

Oh Iforgot
Home care is very popular in the area, although you may have to drive to Lawrenceville. I would not move to Lawrenceville if you want things to be quiet.
I would advise you live in or around Alberta and go to Lawrenceville for shopping. Lawrenceville's amenities are a dump....my opinion. I wouldn't want to live there. Atleast in Alberta you can own a bit of land and travel to what you need.

my dad lives in Alberta and he won't leave there! I am from Penn and being that I am close to NYC and NJ I wont move! but that area is very very nice and quiet! hopefully no one comes in and tries to change it! The only thing I don't like about it when I go to visit is that everything is so far away! But other than that, the town is very nice and quiet!
