I-81 would be a great choice for scenery, staying within eyeball of mountains on both side, but the truck traffic can be unnerving.

I-64 is great because of the views crossing the Blue Ridge, but the fog can be unnerving!

So I will put a write-in vote for I-581 because it means I am in the greatest little city anywhere around haha!

I-295 is my favorite also, especially the view from the Varina-Enon bridge going over the James River. The only thing I despise about I-295 is the small stretch that goes through Hopewell city limits near exit 9. Hopewell uses that tiny stretch as a cash cow just like Emporia does with I-95 and US-58.

Love I-81. Mountains on either side, beautiful meadows and barns. Yeah, trucks, but they're not that hard to work around, and for the most part, you have long sight lines to anticipate and get around them. Most of the exits have an interesting assortment of places to get food.

True, but it's not always that easy. Getting stuck behind two semis with one in the right lane doing 67mph getting passed by one in the left lane doing 68mph sucks.

Nope. What REALLY sucks is being stuck between two fully-loaded semis/logging trucks on a 70 mph highway with the one in the right hand land doing 35 mph and the one in the left lane determined to pass him doing 35.5 mph no matter how long it takes. That's illegal (obstructing traffic) but I still see a number of trucks doing it.
