We are looking at property in Bassett VA. I can't find any town information on the web. Can anyone give me something about Bassett? Size? Stores? People?

Bassett is an economically depressed area. It's been hurt _bad_ by furniture manufacturers abandoning the town (Bassett Furniture, Stanley, etc) and it's not clear what (if any) remedy there will be. Most folks in Bassett have to travel south into Henry County / Martinsville, where the economy isn't any better, or drive a 75 minutes to Roanoke (where the economy is just fine). If you are self employed and don't mind a rural lifestyle you can find some very affordable real estate there.
