My husband and I are trying to find an affordable city in VA that isnt over crowded and has the amenities we need as we get older. After 25 years in the Army we are looking forward to settling down, playing golf and growing roots into a community.
We know northern Va. well and we met at school in Lynchburg VA. but we don't know much about the Waynesboro area. We have been looking on Zillow at homes around the Waynesboro Country Club, older well built homes, on larger lots and walking distance of the club house.
If anyone reads this and lives in Waynesboro I would like your honest assessment.
Thanks!

That area is the nicest area in Waynesboro City in my opinion. Plus, it's a mile or less to all the box stores and grocery stores you could need on a regular basis. The city continues to grow at a steady pace but at least they are not building everything right on top each other.

I still believe the area in general is a good place for a "home base", it's easy to find affordable housing, a couple hours from anything, and quiet when you get home.

You may want to ask on the Charlottesville sub-forum. I've often seen comments about Waynesboro there.
