I asked about this general area a month and a half ago and didnt get any response. All I have been able to research shows housing is cheap and jobs are few. This is just researching on the internet though.

Good luck

Whether you would like Danville pretty much depends on where you're coming from. It's not a very affluent area.....and there is very little to do there as is the surrounding area in general. I grew up in Martinsville, about a half hour from there......pretty much the entire area surrounding Martinsville and Danville is economically depressed. I'd definately suggest visiting before you make a move......yes, there are some nice areas around and it's a quite lifestyle. Don't know much about the schools......

My aunt, uncle & cousins used to live there for a few years so I used to visit there about once a year when I was a kid. Danville really isn't anything special...I don't think the economy is good, a lot of the city appears run down & abandoned, the city's population is declining, and I think there is a lot of crime. Once I went to the movies on Thanksgiving of all days and I saw some kids beat up another kid with a baseball bat in the parking lot, then pile into a car and drive away, which I didn't expect to see in a place like Danville.

There are a few cool things there though...I remember going to a really cool science musuem, a dam and winery outside the city, and the cost of living is cheap, and traffic is good. There are a lot of all you can eat places there too. Plus its only an hour from Greensboro, NC in case you want something to do.

I'd consider moving somewhere around there if I ever found a job there, but I don't think there are any!
