Default Sw Va Mls

Has anyone tried to access the SW VA (Abingdon, Bristol Etc.) MLS and been able to get all the listing information? All I get when I try is a screen wanting all my personal information which I'd rather not disclose.

I'd think they would want people to have free access to that information but that does not seem to be the case.

Am I missing something?

I really appreciate your reply. I've used that address but for some reason it is slow as smoke on my system (worse than dial up). I've got to get my computer guru (read young son) to figure out why. Thanks again.

It is beautiful country up there!

Sorry, missed that part of your pm. I know, I lived there from the time I was 10 years old until I got married in 19 whatever. It's time to move back to my roots......my cousin still owns the family farm.

Don't know where you are on the SC coast but I used to live in Rock Hill (worked in Charlotte) then moved to Wrightsville Beach, NC for a while. You can't beat either of the Carolina coasts except for the cost and hurricanes.

I live in Charleston, SC, about an hour South of Myrtle Beach. It is beautiful here and the weather is great (except for August when the humidity is so thick you can barely breathe), but it is also very flat and seasonless. I miss the 4 seasons, especially Fall, so I bought a little over 10 acres in Scott County, next to Washington County. I have family all over SW VA, so I will be right at home when I move up there. Unfortunately, I have to wait at least 8 more years until I retire...then I'll sell my home here and build my log "dream" house up on the hill on my property. Ah-h-h-h, can't wait!

Forgive me, but what is "MLS"?

We are kinda "flip-flopped". Strange that you want to move up here and build a home up here because we have a log home here in NE Tennessee (about 9 miles south of the Virginia state line (SW VA), and I would love to live in Charleston, but this is my fathers dream home and he loves the area, so I guess in the future when/if I can ever afford it, I may have a "winter home" somewhere on the southeast coastline. Good luck!

Default Us too!

We will be moving to the Marion/Abingdon area this Spring and Summer. I have a realtor calling me this afternoon as I have a zillion questions. If anyone has any opinions on the best elementary schools (I have a rising 3rd grader) and Mom's Day Out programs at Churches for 2 year olds (I have twins) Nearest shopping mall, indoor swimming pools, stuff for kids to do and anything related like that! My dh loves the Abingdon town so our real estate focus will be there and he will be working in Marion. Thanks for any input and I will ask our realtor how to access the MLS system too. Maybe some of us will be neighbors!

Pam

Pam,

Just one person's opinion but I would think the better shopping would be Abingdon. I believe there is one of everything at Exit 7 just north of Bristol.

Also there is what appears to be a nice recreation facility.......H.L. Coomes Recreation.

I love Abingdon! Just spent a week up there when my dad was in the hospital there. If I ever get tired of living out in the country and wanted to live in town, it would definitely be in Abingdon - in the historical part.

By the way, the staff at the hospital there cannot to be beat....they are so caring and attentive, more so than I've seen at any other hospital! All of us in the hospital had been there all day and night one day (Dad passed away from bone cancer, which he had been fighting for almost a year) so the nurses ordered out and had pizzas and sodas brought in for us. Wasn't that sweet? They also prayed with us as did the Dr. I don't have enough good things to say about that hospital and will definitely use it (if need be) when I move up there. Later, we had Christmas goodies sent to the nurses & Drs. who took care of Dad so lovingly.
