Default husband at GMU, school kids in arlington?

We are a family of 4 from Santa Monica, CA. Husband will teach law at GMU, wife architect, son #1, 14, high school (mean jazz pianist as well), son #2 is actually 2 and we are looking for a Montessori school. Can anybody help me figure out where to go to put all these people together?

Wife likes Charles Goodman-type homes but arlington does not have them. High school is priority (washington-lee vs Yorktown?) Any opinions on Lyon Park? I like the idea of buying a fixer and remodeling/adding. Budget: around $700k.

help please!!!!!

Hi planc--

I would re-post this in the Northern Virginia forum to get more responses. Arlington is generally good. You would be closer to GMU by living in Vienna or Fairfax.

How long do you plan to stay in this area?

I'm a 4th generation Californian living in northern Virginia for now. I miss the west coast. Hope your family gets a location that works for them. A jazz pianist should have no problem finding his niche!

Got it. Then Arlington would definitely be the best location. Good luck!
