Has anyone here ever had Dominion come out and inspect their meter to see if something is wrong with it?

I live in Norfolk and rent a two bedroom town home (approximately 1000 square feet) and connected on both sides. There are two occupants who work during the day. No washer/dryer and we run a dishwasher every other week. We have a heat pump.

Our last electric bill was $366 and then $436! It seems like something is wrong here. Our bill was even over $200 when everything was shut off for two weeks while we were out of town.

Anyone have any success getting them to come and inspect your meter? If so, can you tell me what you did so I can do it, too?

Sorry, never had a problem here - but that does seem really high (but I have gas heat) - my bill (I'm on budget plan to even it out) added w/the gas bill are less than that. Can't hurt to call them and question it.

Yes - I've tried to get them to come see our meter, but they refuse!

I wish I could say, "Well, until then, I refuse to pay you!" ...but I can't!

That does seem unreasonably expensive. Have you compared your usage from month-to-month to see where & when the spike happened? It has been pretty cold in the Tidewater area these past two months.

I would check out this page: https://www.dom.com/residential/domi...bout-your-bill

And if there still isn't a suitable explanation, I'd contact the Vice President of Customer Service as suggested here:

Yes! I've called a few times and each time someone said something that the only way it is broken is if our meter wasn't billing, but it is weird to have a customer service agent tell you that when that is not exactly their area of expertise.... I tried to tell her I wanted someone else's opinion because when I go to a doctor, I want to see them, not their receptionist. It turned into, "We don't do that."

I called back and kept getting back in that lady's queue! It was awful.

I emailed the CS VP but will keep calling again.

Try demand speaking with a supervisor. Ask for names and document everything. If a supervisor can't help ask the name of their supervisor. Keep going up the ladder and hopefully eventually you will get a good response. Good luck.

Shut off your power by throwing the main breaker.

Then go look at your meter.

Is it still running?

Good idea! It has be COLD this winter, and a heat pump isn't very efficient in REALLY cold weather, but that still seems excessive.
Our electric bills aren't that high, and we have more space to heat/cool, and I run washer/dryer, dishwasher all the time....

Keep on them...something seems "off"!
