I took my young family there a few yrs back & they liked it; I had been there several times a generation earlier.

Where else are u gonna experience King Kong & brontosaurus statues in one place /peace/
Thanks. That sounds like what we are after.

I made the comment based on a friend who was there recently there with his kids. I drive by all the time but never stop.

I just got back from a work-related trip down I-81 through the Shenandoah Valley, and it was absolutely gorgeous! I didn't have time to stop at too much besides the marked "Scenic Overlooks" on the highway, but everything was so lush and green.....it made me want to pack up and move. LOL

In all seriousness, I was told by a family friend who lives in the area that the Museum of the Civil War and the New Market Battlefield would be worth a visit.
Virginia Military Institute - Virginia Museum of the Civil War Home
(I wasn't able to stop on this trip, though.)

It also needs to be said that Front Royal, Woodstock and nearby Berkeley Springs, WV all still have a movie theater in their downtowns.

Just wanted to update.

We went to Dinosaur Land over the weekend. It was enjoyable. Some of the older dinos are really outdated and in bad shape, but there were newer models that were pretty cool. The kids loved it, and the gift shop was great (high quality feathered dinosaur toys for sale!)

The Children's Museum in Winchester was neat too. I hadn't been to Winchester proper in probably 25 years or so. It seems like a nice little city with an interesting downtown.
