Is there a reason why this town is so small? Especially compared to Henderson right down the road in NC. If I'm not mistaken, South Hill is the largest town along I-85 from the VA/NC border to Petersburg. This is a very rural area, but shouldn't South Hill be a tad bit larger? Am I the only one? Maybe I'm wrong.

As a local shopper, I would much rather travel the extra distance to Henderson. South Hill has so little to offer, regardless of type of service or retail business. As to why South Hill seems so small and depressed, I haven't a clue.
