I like that there is some of that international influence, but has it completely overpowered the local Southern mountain culture in Montgomery County?

As the area grows and more international people come here it will definately re shape the landscape, but not at the present.
Maybe not Montgomery & Roanoke, but other more rural counties in the mountains nearby the mountain culture exists.
Montgomery is an interesting mix of people who seem to co exist in a rural area next to a large University which is growing
the local economy. Blacksburg is getting top rankings from US News, Money,Forbes, etc as one of the top places to live and for jobs. I think a lot of the national media can't wrap their minds around a rather remote area in the Va mountains, away from
the major cities. Many of the top Silicon Valley companies have strong ties to Tech.
