My husband will be stationed at Fort Lee for 3 months over the summer. I have been away from him too long and would like to move near him for those 3 months. We have a daughter who will be 6 months old by the time we move. I need somewhere SAFE SAFE SAFE, preferably not very busy, and a nice neighborhood. I like small-ish towns, being from a tiny one myself. What is Colonial Heights like? And Hopewell?? How would I even begin to find an apartment from 3 states away!!!

I am not sure if you have already moved yet. I am new to this forum.. I live in Colonial Heights. I recomend Colonial Heights more then Hopewell. There are many Military related Apartments in the area. The Oaks is the name of a set. They have many kids and a good school for the kids. If you have any. It is not a violent area Either Close to Interstate and Fort Lee. Food lion grocery store and mall is with in walking distance.. good luck on your search

Smile More Information Please about Colonial Heights

More Information Please about Colonial Heights

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Hi Jewlez, I just came across your post and thought you might be able to offer more information. My family will be relocating to Richmond in May and came across your town Colonial Heights.

We were in fact looking at Lakeview Elementary, and were wondering what your thoughts were on the school on any other schools in the area?

We are looking into Terrace View & Lake View West, Clearfield @Dunlop Farms, Colonial Heights and Colonia Court Townhouses (apartments). If you can shed some light on those that would be great as well.

Take care and thanks for taking the time to respond.

Fort Lee has a housing office that I think can assist you with locating a decent place to live. They should know what's good and what isn't. They may even have housing on the base. Since Fort Lee is expanding over the next few years, the housing options will grow but I don't think that will help you now. Try the Housing Office:

Fort Lee, Virginia, USA * DPWL * General Housing Information (http://www.ima.lee.army.mil/sites/dpwl/housinfo.asp - broken link)

You may be able to pull up some of the information you want at the following website: City of Colonial Heights, Virginia This is the official website for the City of Colonial Heights. If the post housing office cannot find you want you are looking for, check out a local Realtor. Honestly, they will mostly be informed on homes for sale but they will also know of rentals as well. As a former Army service member (11 years), I know moving is a pain and can be stressful for family members. Do your research as far in advance as you can and you will be fine.

Hi Daniel, and welcome to the boards! Take a quick look at some of the older posts before your respond. This one was started back in 2006, so I am guessing they are already settled! :-)
