Moving to Virginia in 3 months, looking for a nice, safe and affordable place to rent. I am a newly graduated artist and an experienced piano tutor. Wondering were to move to continue my business and to look for a job in an art field. I would want to rent about 2 bdr. Apt. for about $1000- $1,300 a Mo. in a safe neighborhood. Any advise is appreciated. Thanks!

Sounds like you have professions that depend on clients with a greater percentage disposable income....In order to provide the best chances for success, it would seem to limit your search to areas of the state with greater affluence. DC area, Richmond area, Hampton Roads area ?

You will never get a 2 bedroom anywhere close to DC for $1300.

"You will never get a 2 bedroom anywhere close to DC for $1300"....from what I know of the area, I'd have to agree, and for that matter, most metro areas. But the word close is subjective....what is close for one person might be 10 minutes, for others, maybe an hour. I have commuted over 100 miles, one way in order to earn a living and retain my chosen lifestyle...my wife has routinely done 40-50 miles....it's all about choices.

You could afford that in Norfolk, find something in the art field in NEON or VIBE.
