Hi All, I am an out of state driver and was travelling from CT through VA to Tennessee almost a month back. I was caught by the trooper on I81 at 87mph on 70 speed limit around 1.30AM. I am planning to attend the court without a lawyer and seeking some suggestions from the experts in the blog. I will be attending the general district court in Rockbridge/Lexington on Wednesday 5/18.

I will be pleading guilty, it was my fault and should have not taken my eye off the speedometer.

This is my first ticket and also for the first time I am going to a court and very nervous. I have a clear driving history for the past 2years since I got US license.

1. Is anyone aware of the court hearings in Rockbridge county? I mean is it too strict?
2. If I pled guilty, is Judge going to ask my opinion? or will he straight away give me RD charge?
3. If Judge gives me RD charge can I ask for continuance and take up the case with Lawyer?
4. Is there a way I could request/please the judge to reduce my charge from RD?

Please suggest, any information would be much helpful. Thanks in advance!

You have an attorney so just talk with him or her. Us giving you advice is basically worthless.

With regards to #3, I do believe you can file an appeal, but you gotta be quick about it, (10 days, I think).
