Question South Riding VA

I'm looking to move to South Riding but I have questions about the type of cable and internet that is available in that area and if it is any good. I am used to having Cox cable in FX county. Any other information about the area for a young couple with no interests in kids (everyone tells me it's a great place for kids, that's great, but I'm not having kids). I hear there is a movie theater coming soon...?

They have all of your standards (cable (adelpihia), dsl (verizon), ect.) but I believe they also have fiOS now on many of the streets there. If you find a home you like, you can go to verizon's site and plug in the address and it will tell you if they have fiOs there yet.

I'm not sure about the movie theatre, perhaps someone else can chime in on that. There is an IMax theatre not too far from there. As for things to do....if you like wine, there are plenty of wineries to explore. You could go ride horses not too far from there, or if you like dining out there are some really great restaurants west of South Riding.

One bad thing (in my opinion) about SR is that is has very little hope of solving its traffic problem. Other areas have similar traffic problems, but I feel that they at least have the hope of solving their issues.

I've lived in South Riding since 2001. We have Adelphia for cable and Internet. I get Extended Basic, which is I think 89 channels, and that costs about $45/mo. We also get high speed Internet through Adelphia for another $45/mo. No complaints about either.

As DavidS mentioned, we have FiOS as an alternative and Verizon is offering a package that includes TV, Internet and Phone for one lump price. I haven't found a reason to switch, but a friend of mine did and he has been boasting about his download speeds.

As for your comments about kids? This is indeed a family-oriented community and everywhere you look, you'll see parents and kids. There is a populus of single people and DINKs (dual income, no kids), so you wouldn't necessarily be alone. I myself have 3 kids.

And yes, we have a planned Movie Theatre but I cannot give you a time frame for that (I don't think anyone can).

Adelphia was bought by Comcast not long ago as well, so that is a plus. Comcast's on demand is way better than Cox as well. As for the high speed it should be good, and way better than Cox as well.... so slow at night around here, like dial-up.
