I don't think so personally, but it seems that many people feel that way. Virginians are largely of English ancestry, while North Carolinians seem to claim Scottish roots. Would you think this has something to do with it?

You pretty much played your cards on another post and this post is another politically post in the Virginia forum. Although anything is better than another reckless drivin' question, trying to feign social backgrounds as any way to cause either state to have an artificial bone to pick, it's disingenuous.

Based on your liberal beliefs, your unhappy about the ban on men from entering women's bathrooms.

This had nothing to do with politics, but okay.

Your comments about how unhappy you are with north Carolina political leadership, your appreciation for Virginia political leadership.... and then re- look at your thread title. Why do Virginians look down on north Carolina? Is it because of 1700's demographics? Nope. Not political. Happy 4th of July.

I think some people just sit and dream up some of the silliest questions they can come up with.

I guess if I was standing atop Mt. Rogers and was looking southeast, I'd be looking "down" on North Carolina.

NC was once called "a vale (valley) of humility between two mountains of conceit" (namely, VA and SC) Vale of Humility between Two Mountains of Conceit | NCpedia

This label may have been true in colonial or ante-bellum times, when Williamsburg VA and Charleston SC were leading centers of society.....think of people like NC's Andy Griffith, Junior Johnson, Dale Earnhardt....

but today NC has sophisticated places such as the Research Triangle Park, Duke University, the nation's #2 city for banking (Charlotte), many gifted and brainy Asian transplants, Jews, and others, Pinehurst Golf Club, etc. and a substantial population of Northern retirees throughout the state from Asheville to the Atlantic Coast.

Not to mention transplants such as intellectual Maya Angelou (Greensboro), actress Andie McDowell (Asheville), and romance novelist Nicholas Sparks (New Bern) who could afford to live anywhere, but chose to move to NC.

I mean if we look on a map...? Honestly I've never heard of anyone looking down on NC or any state.
