Default Reckless driving...failure to maintain control

I was leaving school the other day in the rain, it was the day after a big ice storm in my car, 89 vette 6spd RWD about 365 torque, my tires are almost completely bald on the back maybe 1-1.5 32nds of tread, id been saving up to buy one more tire. anyways in middle of the intersection where there is the most centrifugal force I gave it a hair to much gas by accident and the back end drifted around, i corrected the car and stayed in my lane, and no other cars were affected. the cop coming the opposite way down a divided 4 lane road, cut people off to wait to get behind me, then he pulls me over a mile later and gives me a reckless:failure to maintain control, and faulty equipment(tires).to me that seems a little excessive to give someone with a clean record under the given circumstances. anyone have any experience or advice with this sort of thing? also any good lawyer suggestions in the cville area?

Good luck, silverman 6602. VA cops love to give out reckless driving tickets. The judges seem to usually reduce it and offer driving school if you have a clean record. See if you can get the reckless dismissed (no accident) and get the new tires before your court date to show that you corrected the faulty equipment.
