Can someone who lives at Colonial Heritage give me your thoughts on the community. As you can see, I am from NY (Long Island). What is the mix of people living there (mostly VA transplants...or a variety of states)? Okay I'll ask it: how would someone with progressive views fit in?

How extensive is the neighbor to neighbor program? What if you get to an age or stage where you can't drive anymore versus a short term help during a rehab? Is there any assistance for those who can't drive anymore?

What is the quality of the health care.....the hospitals and availability of doctors (primary care and good specialists)?

Does the HOA cover snow removal?

Are there rental units available (to try out for a while before buying in)?

I know these are varied topics to ask. My daughter in law lives in Hampton (and the rest of the kids are in AZ and CO). At some point, it may be desirable to relocate nearby one of them.

Thank you for any information and insight.

I am interested as well. I believe snow removal is included however lawn service is not. We toured the community and it's nice. I'd love to hear from some people who live there. I think the HOA is around 275 but then you have to add lawn service.

Just a quick follow-up. Can any resident of Colonial Heritage tell me if lawn service is included in HOA fees? Thanks

Hopefully, someone from Colonial heritage chimes in. I'm not sure if there happen to be any on this forum. If it helps, I live in Ford's Colony in Williamsburg and know a little bit about CH. Here are my takes:

1. A very high percentage of people in CH are from other metro areas, primarily from Northern VA, NJ, and NY. There are also a fair number of midwesterners, although for some reason they seem more attracted to some of the other communities. There are also a fair number of people from southern VA, and some from Toano who simply wanted to live in a 55+ community. Toano is the community CH is in; it's a small town adjacent to Williamsburg and it's just a little more "country" than WBurg is.

2. Don't know anything about the neighbor-to-neighbor program there, but FWIW there are two award winning medical centers in WBurg. We've been very pleased with the quality of health care here so far.

3. I don't know about snow removal , lawn service, or rental units, but FWIW I know they have units that you can stay in for a short visit. It's part of a very nice program that they've set up for visitors to see the property and try it out for a few days. We tried it and it includes a pleasant, low key sales pitch, as well as an extensive tour of all the amenities. I recommend it. The sales staff could probably answer all your questions. They've been very pleasant and helpful whenever I've called them.

4. As far as politics go, Williamsburg, in general, is a very inclusive town, which makes it a comfortable place for people with progressive views, as well as more conservative people. In other words, you're likely to find neighbors who share your POV, but you may also have neighbors who are very pro-Trump and you'll be expected to have respect for their right to their opinion, just like they will respect yours. My community (Ford's Colony) has a few strong sub groups for progressive causes, and I know quite a few people at the rec center who seem to be active in progressive causes. William and Mary is another place you will find a lot of activity. Having said that, my take on Colonial Heritage is that it's one of the more conservative communities; part of that has to do with being in Toano, as opposed to being right in WBurg. I could be wrong, but that's my impression.
