Default Question about state inspections

My Wife previously resided in PA, her state inspection is due soon, my question is, since she is in VA does she have to return to PA to get the inspection done every year? I am in the military and move around quite a bit, I would rather not have to re-register her car each time i moved (that and its still in her fathers name) has anyone else encountered this problem? Is it possible to have a VA inspection done in its stead?

Default State Inspections

The Division of Motor Vehicles should answer your question, but I think VA will require you to have yearly inspection. The problem I have encountered
with the VA state inspection is that its hard to get anyone to do it for you!
I have found Firestone to be the best place to go for an inspection, but be sure to get something else done while they do an inspection. Gas stations, oil change places simply don't find it profitable to bother with this inconvenience.

Spee-Dee Oil Change & Tune-Up on Main St in Salem. I dropped in on a pretty busy Sat morning, waited, and was out of there probably 20 mins later minus less than $20.

VA Yankee will become famous soon enough
I was military stationed in VA. The base in Norfolk had a list of @25 states that have non-existant or inadequate inspections, if your state of registration was on that list then you needed a Va inspection. Michigan was a big one with no inspections so you would see Michigan plates and Va inspections.

The question is what will PA accept? Va should be fine with it. Now if the car is in your name (Active Service Member) then you don't have to switch the registration but if it's in your wifes then I believe she has 30 day's (check with dmv) to switch it. She is not exempt.

I don't know where you are but Merchants Tires does state inspections, ask around i'm sure someone knows a "fair" inspector. Some can be real difficult.
