Question Buena Vista - Lexington

I am considring relocating to the Buena Vista - Lexxington area. Have a 15 year old son . . . moving from New York City area. Any ideas? on schools, part time work, will be semi retired... I like the internet looks of Buena Vista - is i a town a new comer could comfortably live in - would the 15 year old be welcomed in the local high school? all thoughts welcome... thanks

Default B.V. or Lexington?

I live about an hour from those areas. Buena Vista is a quiet, small town nestled in the mountains. There is not very much to do there so your son will probably get involved in outdoor activites like fishing, hunting in this rural area. I have always found the people there to be very friendly and open to outsiders. Just meet them half way and you will be accepted! They have a big high school there that is in the middle of town. Most people in that area go to Lexington to shop and entertainment. The universities are there W&L and VMI. Football is big up there as well. If you are coming from the NYC area you should visit for a couple of weeks to see if you will like this rural area. Have you thought about moving to some of the towns closer to Roanoke? I think there would be more job opportunities.

as far as part time work goes, if you're semi retired, the best choice as far as availability goes for jobs is Walmart. We used to have other markets and still have Food Lion and Kroger, but Walmart edged them out. Also there's Lowe's, any of the hotels, or...well I guess that's it.
