Default Teaching in Virginia

Hello,

I am a Social Studies teacher and I am considering relocating to Virginia (I'm originally from Pittsburgh, Pa). I'm looking to move to either the Richmond area or near the coast.

Does anyone have any suggestions for good school districts? Any schools I should avoid?

Thanks for you help!

We just relocated to Chesterfield County (Richmond suburb) and I am pleased with the schools so far. It was a mid-year transition and the kids have both done well (elementary age). Hope this helps.

Try getting in touch with the Virginia Education Assoc. headquartered in Richmond. They can give you specifics and tell you which systems are hiring.

I would think Chesterfied or Henrico Counties would be your best bet in the Richmond area...should be lots a available jobs, I'd just go to their website and apply. I absolutley love the Richmond area, and if you are unattached and like the urban lifestyle I'd look into Richmond's "fan" district...
