I live in Minnesota right now, but my arthritis is getting so bad my doctor advised me to look for a warmer climate. I lived with my mother in Virginia Beach in the late 80's and I loved it, (I am ready & willing to relocate away from cold MN.) and would like to return there. But a lot has changed since the 80's like the high rent. I currently live in a subsidized apartment complex where I only pay 30% of my Social Security check. It leaves me enough to live on. I looked at the room rentals in VA. Bch .and they start at 500 monthly. I checked a company called Community Alternatives, which helps place disabled people in VA. Bch. but all they have is group homes. That just wouldn't work for me, I need my own apartment. I would appreciate some objective feedback. What would you do if it was you? How should I go about moving?

Got to HUD.GOV for a list of housing under Renting. Another list/web site is
GOsection8.com. Contact the landlords they will help. The move houing that you apply for the sooner your name will reach the top of their list the sooner you can move. Good Luck!

Default Va Beach Apts

On a recent visit to the Tidewater area there seems to be a lot of lower cost
rentals due to the Navy personnel in that area. Norfolk, Newport News are probably a bit cheaper than Va Beach anyway. The Ocean view area of Norfolk is a nice area and a friend of mine in the Navy lived there in a small apartment. Check out the local newspaper, The Virginian Pilot. Good Luck!!
