Looking for info on Lynchburg (Forest: sales, to rent, houses)

Hello,
We are considering moving to Lynchburg and have been reading from many sites about the beauty of your town. We are currently in Massachusetts and the cost of living here is getting out of control. I have found numerous houses to rent, but not much info on employment. Can anyone give me some info about jobs in the area, Elementary schools, way of life, people, etc? Looking for a warmer climate also to get rid of the mean harsh winters here! How are your winters? Definately do not want city living, yet do want neighbors, but also a little space.

lynchburg is a nice clean city. most people west of richmond consider it the country. its a nice sized city surrounded by country. the school district i grew up in heritage elem/sandusky middle/heritage hs was a fairly decent 1. both HS in lynchburg were ranked as top 1000 schools in nation. if you are moving here consider the sandusky, sheffield, timberlake, or wyndhurst areas. they are very nice middle class. i dont kno ur price range but if u would likes somethin a little more ritzy boonsboro area, bethel park (off wiggington rd), or Forest, VA (nice suburb of Lynchburg in bedford county). Entertainment wise lynchburg HAS NO nightlife whatsoever (jerry falwell might have part in that). All in All its a nice city.

Thanx so much for the info! I will research the towns you mentioned. What are jobs like in the area? How far is the average commute? We are both self employed but also experieced in other fields. My husband is a carpenter by trade and I am a Cosmetologist, also experienced in Sales and previous Postal Employee. Any more info would be greatly appreciated!!!

There are many jobs in Lynchburg, although I don't know anything about carpentry.lol Always sales jobs available. It depends on where you live and where you work as far as commuting. But you do have to watch for that morning and afternoon traffic, especially if you're trying to get onto 460 (towards the country).
