We didn't get hit at all. We just got some breezes and a little bit of rain. It's a little more humid than usual right now, but that will probably improve by the end of the month.

What sorts of things do you like to do?

There are a ton of outdoor activities (great kayaking, lots of hiking trails, some nice parks, and the capital bike trail which goes from Richmond to WBurg).
If you like shopping, there are the outlets and a lot of antique stores, as well as all the stores selling colonial things.
If you are looking for night clubs there are a smattering, but not a lot. If you like craft breweries, there are several good ones. Also 3-4 wineries in the general vicinity, but the breweries are better.
If you like walking on a beach, go to Yorktown or Jamestown Beach.
If you like eagles, you can find them at College Creek Beach. If you like sports, there aren't a lot (except for William and Mary games).
If you want a city vibe, you'll be bored.
There's bowling, g-karts, golf, and of course Busch Gardens.
WM has some theatrical productions and there are local opera and amateur theater groups, but this isn't really a town known for stage productions.
Not sure what else to mention--basically it all comes down to what you like to do.
