Default Moving to VA - job in Suitland

We are moving from Palm Beach. I am offered a job in Suitland, MD.
I would like to live in VA. I have heard many people Fairfax is a good place to live.

-Where you are working - Suitland MD
-How much you are willing to spend on housing - $1200-$1600 preferably TH or Single Family Home
-How long of a commute you're willing to tolerate - 25 min -40 Min
-If you have kids: Private school or public school? 5 * rated Public School
-Community amenities important to you - Family Oriented, Parks, library etc

How do the areas of Alexandria/Vienna/Falls Church/Springfield compare with Fairfax ?

Any suggestion will be greatly appreciated. Thank You

I am no expert so I am sure others know more but one thing that might be confusing you is the location "Fairfax". There is a Fairfax City which is a great area but many times when I heard people talk about Fairfax, they actually meant Fairfax County. Parts of Alexandria and I think all of the other areas you listed are in Fairfax County. Much of Fairfax County has good schools but not all so you will need to look at the schools as you look around. Fairfax County also has a great parks system and is very family oriented in most areas. Parts of Springfied, Burke or Alexandria might be a good fit but I am not sure about the price range you are looking for.

I would suggest moving this to the NOVA thread so you get more responses.

Good luck!!
