Default nonexistant all over

I travel nationwide for work and have came to the conclusion that only S.VA, NC and a few other privaleged states have the exclusive ability to order sweet tea at almost any restaurant around. You would think that most southern states do, but that is not the case.

Hmmmm Swee Tea??? I'd have to say that the best sweet tea I've had was in Home Place Restaurant, just north of Roanoke. IT was also home to my favorite Lemonade. It's in an old farm house that was turned into a restaurant. Probably my favorite place in the world for a Sunday Dinner.. aside from my grandmother's house. I'd also have to agree that N.C has good sweet tea as well as good bbq (off subject, I know). If you ever make it to Galax, Va or Mt. Airy, NC then try Aunt Bea's. That place also has good tea.

McDonalds now has sweet tea at all the Northern Virginia locations I've seen. However I am not sure if it's real brewed sweet tea and how it tastes, as I prefer my iced tea unsweetened or with a hint of sugar and lemon.

Only good sweet tea is home made. If out in town, I'd try Chick-fil-A. Only place I go for fast food, and the sweet tea makes the yardbird tolerable.

I'd have to agree with Electron about Chick Fil A. The only problem with many fast food restaurants is that sometimes it isn't very fresh. Usually, Chic's is pretty good though.

What's Sweet Tea? That may sound dumb, but is it a special type of tea? Or is it just regular black tea that's been sweetened with sugar?

Ugh! This Yankee could never acquire a taste for sweet tea. The regional differences in prefered tastes has always interested me. Unsweetened tea is more common in the north but our corn bread is sweet (my mom put a little maple syrup in hers), and our beans are sweet too(usually great northern beans with molasis and brown sugar and a hint of cloves and apple smoked bacon). All of the cornbread that I have had in the south is absolutely devoid of sweetness (it's still good though) and the beans are good too, just different.

My jeep brakes for any cornbread that's sweet and dense as pound cake. When I worked in the Pentagon, they had sweet corn muffins with whole kernels of corn sticking out of them....yummmmmm.

Sweet tea is iced tea in which sugar is added to the hot water, but before the beverage is chilled and served. Also as soon as the water starts to boil, turn the heat off before adding the teabags and just let them brew slowly--don't over boil.
