Question Weekend Getaways In VA

My husband and I are looking for a place in VA to get away this upcoming weekend. Any ideas? We are open to about anything, but have really enjoyed small, quaint towns (like MD’s Eastern Shore). Our goal is to just get away from the hustle-bustle of the Greater DC area. Thanks!

Charlottesville, Lexington, and if you're okay with a longer drive I'd recommend Roanoke, Floyd, Abingdon, etc.

I really think Staunton, VA is a beautiful small town. Everyone was very friendly and the antique shops were fun to walk through since they weren't mall-type, but old buildings filled with stuff... you had to dig through stacks of stuff and make deals! Check it out.

Yeah, Staunton is good for a weekend trip. Be sure to eat dinner at the (I hope I'm remembering this right) the Station Inn. It's in a beautifully remodeled train station right alongside active tracks. We were having dinner there past sunset and a Norfolk Southern train went by (which you could see on account of an entire wall being glass). It was pretty ethereal, and fun for the kids.
