Wow, that's a tough one. Where are you relo'ing from?
You can try the Blacksburg Craigslist...you might find some listings there for places closer to Wytheville.
Or you can try this.
But as you will notice, there's not a lot listed. Best bet...if you are close enough to drive the area a little bit, you will probably see some signs on front lawns, apartment complexes, etc. There's some stuff in Marion, if you can get over there to drive around. Nice country over there, too.

j1n is right about there being very few rentals online. You best bet will be to visit and look for "For Rent" signs. I do think that regardless of where you are you might have a problem getting a place with your four cats. I'm not a cat basher by any means, just being practical. Give me an idea of what you are looking for and I'll be glad to help in anyway I can. I live in Wythe County and go to Wytheville on a regular basis. PM me if you like.

We are also checking this area for a home to purchase. I have 2 questions. We also have multiple pets (cats and dogs). Is there a zoning restriction? Also, the hospitals seem to be about 25 miles away. But how long does it actually take to drive? Particularly in the winter? We would be looking for a home with at least 1 acre if not more. That may affect the answer.
Thank You

Not sure on the number of dogs allowed? I know there are restrictions in some places. Outside a city (in the county) would probably be more lenient. Winter driving to the closest hospital (NRV Carilion, I assume?) is a non-issue. It would be almost all highway, and we generally don't get that much snow here.

k8te and sunrisemus,
I live in an area about 15 miles out of Wytheville and there are 2 home in my "neighborhood" about to go on the market. It is out in the country though. Each house is a 3/2 on 5 acres and includes use of a 2 acre lot right on the New River! If you'd like, PM me and I'll give you more info.

I moved to Wytheville from Texas in January of this year.. havent regretted a MINUTE of it! It is really lovely here, very affordable and has great opportunities for single moms and TONS of weekend outing options for families that are low cost or FREE! I know of a small home for sale on Locust Hill, its neat as a pin but it is about 10 miles from Wytheville. I live just down the road and LOVE it. Nice drive to Wytheville, not too far, located in Fort Chiswell community with a grocery store, convenience store and schools within 3 miles. Will be happy to answer any questions or send printed materials on the area to those who request!
