Blue Ridge Homes w/Views
Would anyone happen to know where there is decent real estate in the Blue Ridge mountains with mountain views?

That's about it basically. Preferably the farther north the better, starting around the Harrisonburg area on down. I did see a place or two in Nelson county and sporadically on down so far.

How about price range, size, requirements like schools or shopping?

Price I can work with,as it would most likely be relative to the size of the property. Doesn't need to be alot of acreage, smallest I can get with a mountain view. I'd say a 2 bed 1+bath would be sufficent. Schools maybe, shopping - at least a market nearby.

I agree with vamtncat and lovesmountains...what you are looking for covers a really large area...Harrisonburg and south. Around H-Burg you are viewing the ridges from a greater distance. As you move further south, you are gradually in the mountains...some places more so than others. But there are a lot of mountain views south of H-burg. And a wide range of real estate.

Basically Harrisonburg and south within VA?...
I'd like something right on the mountain, not just looking at it from a distance but perhaps looking out over a valley from my porch.

Nelson County is definitely IN the mountains. You would be about 20 minutes outside of Waynesboro - where you would have to do your grocery shopping. It's beautiful up there, but it's rural. Wintergreen Resort is up there - so there are certainly things to do.

I'm really trying here, but without any more specific "wants", "needs", work-commute-requirements, type of neighborhood (or very rural and lack of neighborhood), price range, whether kids are involved and therefore a need for a decent school system, etc...it's really tough to give you any ideas.
There are probably a thousand towns and gaps and hollows from H-burg heading south. Any one of them might work for you.
