I was wondering if there was anything to do there? Deep Creek Lake has the lake and then the state park and mini-golf, movies, restaurants, etc. Is Lake Anna like that or is it just about the lake?

It's the radiation from the nuclear power plant that keeps you coming back for more

North Anna Power Station (http://www.dom.com/about/stations/nuclear/northanna/index.jsp - broken link)

Well, there is the state park, with all of their activities:

Lake Anna State Park

There are several restaurants, and other activities scattered around the lake. There really isn't as much of a 'center' for activities. (The closest thing would be where Rt. 208 crosses the lake)

If you're staying for a weekend, or just a day, your best bet would be to rent a boat.

There are several places with large docks that you can go to, dock, have some fun, then move on:
Lakeview Restaurant and the No Wake Zone on Lake Anna in Virginia****************************************** **************** ... your favorite lakefront restaurant and bar, brunch, buffet, outdoor dining, pet friendly, games, family, kids, dogs welcom
Lake Anna Beach Marina - Home
Lighthouse Grill - Carry out meals at Lake Anna.

You can rent a boat from several places. A warning though... you'll need to pick between renting a boat, or going to the state park. This is because there aren't docks at the park to leave your boat if you're renting. (There is a boat ramp though)

I'd suggest boating around, and find a small island to claim as yours for the day. I could show you on a map where there's a cluster of 3 or 4 to pick from. You have to get there before 10 am, otherwise they get claimed early. (On the weekends... weekdays are MUCH less crouded)

Anyways, hope this helped. If you need to know where you can rent a boat, or where some good free beaches are, just let me know.

Thanks, Eric. That does help. I think we "missed the boat" for a vacation there this year, but might look into it next year. I'm going to take a look at all the links you provided and bookmark them.

Hey Eric - I'll be on the Lake all week and looking for some suggestions. You appear to be a knowledgeable local, can you help me???

It's nothing like Deep Creek--lot's of lakeside homes and pretty far from any other "entertainment".

Eric, we are hoping to get down there one weekend in Sept and check the area out for a possible retirement option. Do you have any recommendations on areas to look at?
