Default looking for input on moving to VA

I need to get out of gloomy Washington state and Im considering moving to VA to go to school at Germana community college which I believe is located in Locust Grove area. Im a single parent of a 16 yr old and an 8 yr old so most important to me is somewhere with a good school system that is within reasonable driving distances to the college, due to such high gas prices since I drive a gas guzzlin' suv. Ive been looking into Culpeper and Fredericksbrg but Ive read so much contradictory input I must say Im not sure if those areas are right for us or if there is somewhere else that I should consider. I work in the healthcare field so I also need to be in an area that has employment opportunities and somewhere with reasonable rent prices. I dont want to live in a big city area but I also dont want us to be bored with no activites to do.
One other thing.......do ya'll have sweet tea there? I mean the kind you can order that you dont have to put your own suger in?? lol or a chik filet or cracker barrel? sure would love some input. thanks sonya

Germana DOES have a campus over closer to Fredericksburg, in Spotsylvania (In the Massaponax area)

The schools in Spotsylvania are pretty good, and you could probably take most of your classes at the campus there (but you might have to drive to the main campus sometimes). There should be a lot of job opportunities if you stick around Spotsylvania.

Do you mind saying how much you were aiming to spend on rent? That might better help us suggest areas that will be good for you, while still being affordable.

If you want to go to the main campus, but still want to have your kids go to Spotsylvania Schools, the area around (and in) Lake Wilderness might work... It's less expencive than areas closer in to Fredericksburg, and would still allow your oldest to go to Riverbend High School (The newest high school in the county). The only negative would be finding a job near by...

thanks Eric for responding. Well for rent I would like to be under 1200.00 for a 3 bedroom if thats even possible in that area. If I have to then I will work nights if the rent is more.
Ill be sure to look up Spotsylvania and Lake Wilderness on the net. I got a call today for a job in Fredericksburg at a clinic near Mary Washington Hospital so I will have to fly out to interview in the next two weeks. Im going to try to look at the area but wont be able to be out there long.

The school informed me that all my classes would be held at the Locust Groce campus. I pulled up Spotsylvania and thats quite a large city and appears to be a little farther away then Fredericksburg.
