oh yes 175-200 is probably going to be waaay too high for us to manage. but that would all have to depend on the income he could possibly get. but with his education he probably couldnt get much on a as. degree he would have two of them if he would finish another class. and we have a big dog and can imagine most places will be hard to find a place to rent. the only way we would buy if it were someone trying hard to get rid of a home or a forclosure other than that we arent going to buy anytime soon.
thats why were looking at areas with relatively low housing costs. cause prices are 150+ and 150 is in the so-so neighborhoods but yet locals can afford to buy cause the incomes here arent close to affording that.

like I said it would have to depend on the income he could swing for the area.... like here the average income is low but the cost of a home (a starter home) in need of no repairs cost around 155-175 in a shady not so great neighborhood....in the nice areas 225-275. so see there is no way a young family can manage to stay here. the yanks have pushed us right out, buying houses at high prices and over a two year period they in most areas doubled and some areas even higher. lots of half mil and million dollar homes been built over the past 5 yrs ...oh yes we could of bought something a few years ago and even tried but credit (starting out credit) was a issue.

we looked at danville again recently but heard some bad things about the unemployment and lack of decent shopping....
we looked about 3 yrs ago and it seemed like exactly what we were looking for but we had never traveled out there. Have seen they have a few jobs he might have a chance at getting but looking at the recent stats seemed that crime has jumped a bit, home break-ins drugs etc.
any comments on the area??

Amanda, I know you said you wanted to stay in VA, but maybe you should consider the midwest, where living costs are much lower than on the east coast (in general) and salaries are often just as high as where you are, or higher. Many cities like Indianapolis, Columbus, and Cincinnati are extremely family-oriented with lots to do, and smaller towns will be even less expensive.

Hi, Amanda, no, I haven't heard anything like that about any of the cities in my post, and in doing a little search on the web, I didn't find anything. Of course, you wouldn't have to live in a city; you could find a smaller town. In any case, virtual fingers crossed for you; I hope everything works out.

oh my bad I think it was St. Louis, but cincinnati had a increase I think somewhere in the top 10 I think....at either rate. If all else fails here we are going to look more into North Carolina he applied for one there (think I already said that) and one more in Danville Va. He went to college out in North Dakota not my fav place in the world to relocate (with interviews etc) his mom said she would help us get relocated if we ended up applying further from home. So that would be a big help dont want to have to dip into savings any for that. thanks guys Im trying to stay positive
