Is Franklin VA welcoming to Northerners?
Being a northerner and being a sensitive person prejudice does concern me and while I'm sure that most prejudice is personal I wouldn't be able to handle an abundance of it.
Even subtle prejudice can gang up on you and I don't want to be unhappy.
I like southerners because I believe they still have manners and follow traditions and that's who I want to live with. It no longer exists in the north.
Is Franklin, VA welcoming towards northerners?
Thank you, ~Pansy

No, Franklin, VA. It's between Courtland and Emporia, southwest of Newport News. I'm sorry I do not know the county. But it's much closer to the ocean than Roanoke.
Thank you.

Near Emporia, then it is close to the NC border. I think Southampton County.

I am from Pennsylvania, but currently live in Danville, VA (south central VA and right on the VA-NC borderline). My husband and I have found people to be very warm and friendly toward us. The people that we've met (especially in our church) have really taken us under wing and have become like our family down here.

Franklin is NEXT to Southampton County, but as an incorporated city, it is not within any county.
I am a Northener who moved there in 1993. No, they do not like Yankees. It is still a very old-school Southern town, and they are tradition bound. There were still segregated rest rooms as late as the 1980s, illegal or not. None of the towns in the area are very accepting of outsiders. Few people will be out-and-out MEAN, but it is clear that Yankees are not welcome.
My children spent much of their youth there, and my own SON was taught by the locals to mistrust his own family.
I now live in Central Virginia, and I can say that the HAnover/Henrico area is much warmer and accepting.

I moved here from Long Island New york, last October. the locals have been beyond excepting, they have been wonderful. We are very happy to be here, and intend to be an asset to this community. you just have to get used to things happeneing a little slower, and it certinatly is a lot quieter.
