Default Question about a small town? (I did read the sticky)

-Where you are working
Medical field
-How much you are willing to spend on housing
$100-$200k (would probably rent at first)
-How long of a commute you're willing to tolerate
1hr
-If you have kids: Private school or public school?
Public schools
-What type of neighborhood environment you are looking for: small town feeling? small city excitement? suburbia delight?
Small town w/neighbor big town for wife's shopping
-Community amenities important to you
Low crime
-Pie or cake?
Depends on the day

Any city/town names would be great for me to look up. Pictures, would just be over the top

Thanks

I think Carilion would be a good start. Carilion Healthcare / Carilion Clinic is hiring and they own several hospitals and a large number of clinics throughout the Roanoke Valley.

Small towns close to Roanoke Metro include Rocky Mount, Vinton, Salem (well, it's a small city, and it's hard to tell where Salem ends and Roanoke begins), Troutville, Daleville.

Venton: Crime is a 5 (same where I am now) and 23" of snow. Hummm. Wife would be happy, not sure about me. Water and air are great (90/46)!
Salem: Crime is a 2 (much better) 23" of snow. Water and air are awsome (80/97)!
House prices in Salem are $150+
Daleville: Crime is a 1 and water and air are great again (84/67)!
House prices in Daleville are $250k+

Are these in the low mountains? Favorite of any?

Rent in any of the areas for a 3-4bd and 2+ baths 1400sqft + ?

Thanks for pictures!
